Back ground on French 75

Most French 75 recipes call for gin, but Chris Hannah, the bartender at Arnaud’s French 75, uses cognac instead — and we can report that it is absolutely delicious with Austin 101! The French 75 cocktail appeared around 1919 and most recipes back then called for gin, but many aficionados think it was first made with cognac. Fun fact: The name for the French 75 comes from the 75-millimeter howitzer, or field gun, used by soldiers in World War I.
